Featured case study · Brand voice & full site copy

Goldust Spa, Bali.

One of Bali's most-booked luxury spas. I wrote the brand voice, every page on the website, and the entire treatment menu — the bit most people skim, and the bit that does the actual selling.

The brief

A beautiful spa with the wrong words on the wall.

Goldust had everything going for it. Marble, onyx, marigolds in the pool, a treatment list two sisters had spent years perfecting. The one thing it didn't have was copy that did any of it justice.

Walk into any spa site in Bali and you'll get the same soup. “Tropical paradise.” “Holistic journey.” Bullet points selling 60-minute slots like they're car washes. It's the wellness equivalent of stock photography — technically correct, completely forgettable.

My job was to give Goldust a voice with a pulse. Something a guest would actually finish reading, and a competitor couldn't copy without sounding like they were doing an impression.

The approach

Three rules I held the whole project to.

  1. 01

Sell the room, not the service.

Nobody books a 90-minute massage. They book the version of themselves they want to feel like afterwards. Every page leads with what the guest sees, hears, smells and sinks into. The treatment name comes second — by then they’ve already pictured themselves in the chair.

  2. 02

Write the menu like it matters.

The treatment menu is where most spas hand the customer a spreadsheet. It’s also where the buying decision actually happens. So I rewrote every single line of it — facials, massages, the lot — to read like a story you don’t want to put down.

  3. 03

    No exclamation marks. Ever.

The fastest way to wreck a luxury brand is to sound excited about itself. The voice stays low, intimate, certain. The italics do the breathing. Even the FAQs and the cancellation policy hold the line.
